About

Photo by Ana Maria Guardia, Mexico 2015 I was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. I’m of Arabic, Mexican and German descent. I grew up submerged in all three cultures and, at the age of eight, had the opportunity to immerse myself in the American culture when my parents moved us up to Boston, MA. Back then, I spoke only Spanish and the very little Arabic my grandparents were teaching me. Now, I speak English and Spanish fluently, and although I grew up in a German school, these past few years I would say my German has gone from fluent to better-than-good.

It was during our first year in Boston, that I was given a notebook which had a picture of Mickey Mouse surfing on the cover. I remember looking at the image and words just started flowing through my brain. I opened the notebook and wrote my very first story! It was obviously about Mickey Mouse surfing.

That notebook is long gone, but the experience and the love for writing were ingrained in my soul since. Writing has always been a big part of my life and while I have not always done it constantly (school and career tended to get in the way), I have now decided to take the plunge and dedicate myself to becoming a professional author.

I have mostly written short stories, but I am trying my hand at writing my first novel. I’ve always said that I write fiction, but the truth is, I’m a sucker for ghost stories and, so far, most of my stories have had a supernatural element to them.
